HSBC and The Warehouse Limited create New Zealand’s first Sustainable Supply Chain Finance solution
SSCF offers suppliers of TWL a financing solution that links their borrowing cost directly to their sustainability performance. Outlined in the TWL 2025 Sustainability Report, suppliers that achieve or improve their sustainability performance as part of TWL’s Supplier Scorecard will be eligible for preferential rates, encouraging uptake of sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.
TWL’s SSCF solution covers suppliers accounting for over 80% of offshore-managed private label product spend for its 150 The Warehouse and Warehouse Stationery stores across New Zealand, and is expected to support TWL in delivering its Sustainable Living Plan goals.
Daniel Felton, HSBC Country Manager New Zealand and Head of Corporate Banking, Australia and New Zealand, said: “At HSBC, we are consistently looking at innovative ways to meet the evolving needs of our clients, and we are proud to partner with TWL on a first in the New Zealand market.
“With a commitment to environmental and social sustainability, the Sustainable Supply Chain Finance solution supports TWL’s embedding their sustainability ambitions across their supply chain.”
Phil Cumming, General Manager Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing at The Warehouse Group, said: “Supporting suppliers to improve their ethical and environmental performance is key to delivering our Sustainable Living Plan. As a first mover in New Zealand with HSBC, we’re proud to be doing this at scale across the majority of our offshore-managed private-label suppliers.
“Our partnership with HSBC strengthens our support for suppliers – using competitive financing to reward progress on sustainability, improve transparency, and ultimately build a more resilient and responsible supply chain for the future.”
